In this modern era, Singapore as tiny island often appears to have sold its Asian soul for a western lifestyle. However, if you spend some time to pause and have a closer look, Singapore’s traditional culture is well alive and well beneath in the society.               With the diverse ethnic groups in Singapore, you will find a variety of local foods that must not be missed. Hawker centres are widely popular among the locals and you’ll get to try out the traditional recipes that are passed down from generation to generation which are still preserved till today. Hawker centres at Tiong Bahru market, Maxwell Road, Old Airport Road and Chinatown Complex are a few that must be visited. You will be amazed by the selection of foods that are offered.

              Singapore is made up of 1 main island and surrounded by around 60 smaller islands like Sentosa, Pulau Ubin, Kusu, and St. John’s Island which are famous for retreats. Singapore main island is shaped like a diamond. It is merely about 42km from east to west and about 23km from north to south. When it comes to land area, it is shockingly tiny which is only 693 sq.km. However, with good planning and leadership from the Singapore government, it has developed from a small fishing village into a city in the gardens today. As a Singaporean, we are always proud of this effort and results from our pioneers.
